Los Angeles - August 30, 2000 - The Japanese Language Scholarship gAurorah Foundation is pleased to announce their second scholarship winners, Ms. Tracy Ann Pollard and Mr. James J. Buoye.

The primary goal of the foundation is to nurture and provide support for Japanese language teachers and students of Japanese language education in the USA. The scholarships will enable the awardees to experience a 2-3 month stay in Japan in 2001 and give them the opportunity to attend an intensive Japanese Language Teacher educational program.

Tracy Ann Pollard, from Boulder Colorado, has participated in the JET program for two years visiting Japan (1993-1995). She also worked as coordinator for international relations at the Office of the Mayor, Takasaki-shi, Japan (1995~1996). She is currently pursuing her M.A, Japanese Language and Pedagogy and her Teacher Certification program, and plans to complete by spring 2002 at University of Colorado at Boulder. Even though she is still a student, she will be a good leader and she is committed to teaching Japanese language in the future.

James J. Buoye, from Dumont New Jersey, is currently a Japanese Language Instructor at the Northern Valley Regional High School. He received his M.A. (Asian Studies; Japanese Specialization) from University of Michigan (1990). He is devoted to increasing students and community awareness of Japanese culture. His dedication to protecting and expanding Japanese language and culture are of high value.

The scholarship includes a trip to Los Angeles, so Tracy and James will attend the award ceremony tentatively planned to be held on Sat. December 2, 2000. The detailed information about the ceremony will be announced in the near future.
